Book of the Month January 2026

The Relay Testing Handbook: Principles and Practice by Chris Werstiuk

This month’s featured book is The Relay Testing Handbook: Principles and Practice (First Edition: 2012). There are many books written about protective relays, but very few about relay testing. In a 629-page hardbound book, Chris Werstiuk has compiled a great mix of theoretical and practical information necessary to test protective relay systems. In addition to information about testing the various protection elements such as overcurrent, differential, distance, etc., Chris has included sections on understanding and testing logic, documentation and report writing, and electrical theory needed to understand how and why protective systems work.
